They say psychologists are either crazy or trying to treat someone close to them. The answer? Yes. Having gone through several bouts of depression, I can say I know what it's like to be on both sides of the psychologist's chair. And, while I don't believe that having experienced it is a prerequisite for being a good psychologist, it has helped me understand firsthand how difficult it can be to ask for help and to accept support. I'm Altea, a psychologist trained in ACT and CBT. I love continuing my education: I read books, studies, and anything I can get my hands on about psychology to stay up-to-date on what's happening in our world and in the field. In Spain, my clinical experience is primarily focused on anxiety, depression, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and anxiety. I've also worked in Australia in Human Resources and as a social support professional with people with autism spectrum disorder and other special needs. I also have specific training in diversity, including transsexuality, the LGBTQ+ community, gender, and non-monogamous relationships, as well as training in perinatal and postpartum psychology. If I had to define myself, I'd say I'm direct, approachable, and quite practical. I'm good at building trust quickly and connecting with very different people, something I consider especially important in therapy. My favorite parts of psychology are working on creating healthy habits, learning to live with emotions instead of constantly fighting them, and creating practical resources and tools that you can take from therapy to your real life. I wish I could put "Canva Ninja Master" on my CV, because I have a few hours of training in that too. Do you think we could make a good team? We just need a video call to find out.

My education

Higher and professional education

I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Santiago de Compostela between 2012 and 2017. During this time, I received training in psychological assessment and intervention and developed my Bachelor's Thesis in the field of psychology, including a search and review of scientific literature. Subsequently, I completed a Master's Degree in General Health Psychology at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) between 2025 and 2026. During the Master's program, I completed my academic internship at ITCA in Vigo and A Coruña, where I participated in initial interviews, questionnaire-based assessments, planning and monitoring of therapeutic processes, direct intervention under supervision, application of CBT and ACT techniques, and report writing. The Master's program culminated in my Master's Thesis on depression and expatriation. Between 2025 and 2026, I also completed the Advanced University Program in Attachment and Perinatal Psychology at the International University of La Rioja. I also have the Cambridge C2 Proficiency (Cambridge Assessment English).
